Lip Pigmentation
Pigmentation around the mouth shows up as a dark or brown shadow around the lips and chin, and sometimes on the upper lip. It is very common in Indian skin, it is harmless, and it is one of the more stubborn types of pigmentation. The usual causes are sun exposure, hormones, irritation from hair removal or products, and constant contact from lip licking and saliva.
The skin around the mouth is thin and sensitive, so it needs a gentle approach: protect it from the sun, avoid irritation, and use pigment-targeting ingredients slowly and consistently. Aggressive scrubs, bleach and home remedies often make the darkening worse.
This page explains what causes pigmentation around the mouth, how to treat it and where The Compound Way fits in.
